Love Fortunes and Other Disasters by Kimberly Karalius

Review: It took a little while for me to get into this book, but once I got rolling nobody could stop me.

The only reason I had a tough time starting this book was because I thought it took place in a normal world. Not fantasy. But by the time I figured it out, I was almost done with the book. Which is a little sad because the fantasy part of this book is really good that you think its real half the time.

I think my favorite part of this book is the cover art, mostly because it has all of the key characters on the front. While your reading the book you slowly start to put together who is who on the cover, which is really cute.

Anyway the Fallon Dupree is a really cool main character and is a little like the author, Kimberly Karalius. Who is funny and quirky, and a good writer. Back to Fallon, her and her gang of friends are a lot of fun to read about as they plan to take down Zita and her love fortune lackeys. The best thing about Fallon is that she is able to be passionate without losing her calm, even when she does fall in love she is able to handle it all so well.

I can not wait to read the second book in the series. It is suppose to be about some of the other couples/ characters that where hinted at being together or did not get much time to shine in this first book.

5 out of 5 stars.

368 pages. Paperback.

Young Adult. Romance. Contemporary. Fiction. Fantasy.

In the tradition of Alice Hoffman’s Practical Magic, one girl chooses to change her fortune and her fate by falling in love.

Love is real in the town of Grimbaud, and Fallon Dupree has dreamed of attending high school there for years. After all, generations of Duprees have successfully followed the (100% accurate!) love fortunes from Zita’s famous Love Charms Shop to happily marry their high school sweethearts. It’s a tradition. So she is both stunned and devastated when her fortune states that she will NEVER find love.

Fortunately, Fallon isn’t the only student with a terrible love fortune, and a rebellion is brewing. Fallon is determined to take control of her own fate—even if it means working with a notorious heartbreaker like Sebastian.

Will Fallon and Sebastian be able to overthrow Zita’s tyranny and fall in love?
