Shugo Chara!, Vol. 1: Who Do You Want to Be? (Shugo Chara! #1)
Review of Shugo Chara
This series is one that I started many years ago and just had the pleasure of completing this last week. It was so great! I loved reading and taking in the art form of the writers. The storyline was also able to stay on track the whole time, in which a lot of manga fail to do the longer it runs on. Through this series the Writers Peach-Pit, were able to convey a great message about exploring the different paths in front of you, till you are able to find the one that you most want to walk and be! The main character Amu is a little rough around the edges but really who isn’t?! When I was first reading this I was in middle school and acted the same way the she does too! The series is full of things and people that you can connect with and understand. It also has the added bonus of romance in the air for Amu, which makes it even better! Even though the story revolves around elementary school kids and the art work and battles seem childish, the message and the plot are able to reach those of all ages. I’m now in college and know what I want to do, but without this book helping me and outlining my path to make it easier to see, I might not be so sure today. So no matter how old you are, you are never too old to read this manga or any other manga. You are also not to old to revisit your path of what you want to do.
4 out of 5 stars.
